New term

I love that new term autumnal feeling.

It was really great to get back to uni, find my new studio space and to get started with more space to work in than at home.

I was keen to progress with my idea of sun dye printing on a larger scale.

I took a random bunch of lavender, sweet peas and another plant from the garden.

Using a press I flattened the plants ready to print on a large UV light exposure box. I intentionally ran the material though the press with the plants to get an image of the plants and berries onto the material. This gave a really interesting effect throughout the entire process which can be seen in the attached pictures.

First try was using Pebeo setacolour dyes which I have used at home. This didn't have the same effect as leaving the image in the sun and appeared to have a "negative" print effect.

I then had another go using cyanotype. The effect of this was really great as it showed all of the intricate parts of the objects which is what I really wanted in order to use it to abstract it further.

I have also attached an image of the was in which the image came onto the fabric when I first applied the cyanotype (last image which is in green).
