Flight

I’ve been working on a print project for Handprinted UK on the theme of flight.

I wanted to consider the use of language of flight and how we talk about people as being flighty or as high fliers to describe their personality.

The attached images show my process of creating the print that I made into a concertina folded artist book. It was important to me that the images ‘flew’ through the pages.

Also that the letter press from the Adana was printed on different pages but also embossed through the folds of the pages.

I exposed feathers onto a screen and screen printed them in different layers to create a ‘flight’ effect. I then cut up an acetate that had been bitmapped with an image of David Bowie and arranged them into a collage of wings.

Letter press was added last.
