Hi, it's drawing week at Uni this week and today I had the best day!
I went to the glass centre to do drawing with molten glass! It was so so awesome. The lovely lecturer Jim showed us lots of different techniques, lines and shapes that we could use.
The process was to take molten glass from the kiln and then to either drape it in lines across the paper, or shape with tweezers or a mould before moving the shaped glass over the paper, and effectively drawing with it.
I loved the random effect of this process, because although it was part planned, you cannot plan the shapes made by this type of material or indeed the flames that scorch the paper.
I LOVED IT!!!!! I even loved the smell of the charred paper.
Interestingly thicker paper didn't set on fire, which resulted in less holes and a different effect. I would love to try this again.
The 2 images here are my art of the day and show a variety of lines and texture marks. Image 1 was on thin paper which caught alight quite a lot.
Image 2 was on thicker paper.
