Happy New Year!

Here is a preliminary look at artists that my tutors have recommended to me:

Jennifer Durrant (RA)

Space, abstract, composition

I like the size and colours of these collaged images and have included this image of an exhibition by Durrant as I am interested in the way in which she has displayed this large image next to smaller framed pictures.

Leon Kossoff

So I had a look at Kossoff and found this image, on pinterest actually so I'm not sure how reliable the source is. But I like the thickness of the paint so have included it anyway as it is the closest image to my work that I could find...

Christopher Le Brun (PRA)

President of the Royal Academy. Painter, printer, sculptor.

I am really interested in these paintings. The light and vibrancy really draw me in and require further research. I will do an individual blog about Le Brun later.

Joan Mitchell

Painter and printmaker.

Abstract expressionism.

"My paintings are titled after they are finished. I paint from remembered landscapes that I carry with me - and remembered feelings of them, which of course become transformed. I could certainly never mirror nature. I would more like to paint what it leaves with me."

I am so excited by Mitchell's paintings. My work at the moment is very much about remembering colours and images and feelings.
